One Pinktober is rallying our community to raise awareness, promote early detection, and provide support to those affected by cancer under the powerful theme, "Many Journeys. One Hope."

According to updated data from the Ministry of Public Health in 2018, Guyana bore the unfortunate distinction of having the highest cancer incidence rate in the Caribbean, at a staggering 46.9%, coupled with a mortality rate of 21.0 per 100,000 persons. These sobering statistics highlight the pressing need for more awareness, accessible screening, and effective treatment.

Breast cancer remains the most common form among women in Guyana, while prostate cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among men. Across the Caribbean, cancer continues to claim lives, and it is our collective responsibility to fight back.

One Pinktober 2026 calls for unity in this battle, bringing together many people to take action, to elevate awareness, support early detection, and encourage the power of the community.
